Global tourism has always been a present motif in my work. The series was shoot in Venice. On a rain-soaked weekend I photographed tourists who grappled with their cameras, cell phones, umbrellas and pelerines the gray wet. Still trying to take the single Instagram picture, which provides proof to everyone else that the trip was worthwhile.
The series draws, despite their color intensity, not a casual, cheerful image of Venice, but focuses on the frustration that all of us know too well.
The expectation of "going on vacation" is extreme and mostly inconsistent with reality.
BACHELOR DEGREE SHOW
My installation includes two facing videos. This juxtaposition gives the impression of interacting pictorial languages.
The merge raises a basic question: what is art? One definition is that this art is defined by its context. Here in the exhibition context, established behavior is equated with the everyday and is established together as a „work of art“. In addition, the ever-recurring hustle and bustle of the videos reflects a striking „eventisation“ of the art field.
Both videos contain the act of viewing, which is very important for my artistic work and self-understanding. Some directly look at something, others through something, and we, in return, as spectators, look at them.
The whole thing is edited and directed by the „framing“.
Through the video projected in the corner, the viewer will automatically prioritize one wall at some point. The moment of deciding where to look at, seems essential to me.
